Welcome to TWO Market, a creative space that follows our adventures in House Flipping & shares inspirational tips about how you can bringing creativity your own home.
To start, here is a little about me.
I love making things! I began to fall in love with mechanics at a young age, while watching my grandpa work in his garage. One day I decided to “help myself” to some small pieces of scrap wood that he had piled up in a corner of the garage. I collected a hammer, a pile of mismatched nails, and I began to expieriment fitting the pieces together. My grandpa walked in and I knew I was caught in the act. To my surprise he went to his workbench, pulled out a wood clamp, handed it to me, and then he quietly took a seat to watch. The result of that day was a short, slightly lopsided stool that I used as a coloring table over my lap in the living room. From that day on, I was hooked on DIY!
The journey has been an Adventure! Over the course of my life I have had the pleasure of working in many different creative fields. When I was 15 I began in catering and was able to explore the awesome world of event planning & decor. I then got a job at a Flower Shop and worked as a Designer in Tacoma and Seattle.
In 2012 I started a small business, TWO in Fircrest, a coffee shop that sold home goods & decor. In that store, I developed and sharpened my design style and skills, grew as a business owner, and gained much needed confidence in myself. I made the decision to close the coffee shop to focus all of my attention on renovations & home decor.
“TWO Market” as it is now known, features unique home accent pieces and is now sold online at etsy.com/TWObyJillAbsten.
We Flip Houses! My fiancé Joel & I began working together Flipping Homes almost right after we started dating. We’re a good team, Joel manages the real estate & construction side of the projects and I handle interior design. Most of the homes we buy, we live in, even during the remodel process. Once their fixed up, they go on the market and it’s on to the next house. Pretty wild!
My design preference is simple and fresh. I prefer a more timeless design overall, but like to add modern touches. I love the use of industrial pieces that are a glimpse of how life used to be; making old things new and seeing the potential in every project. I want the design to tell a story, and to feel like an experience.
